![]() I met some other travelers in Cao Bang who were doing the falls by taking an overnight bus from Hanoi, this way they did it in 1 day/2 nights. Also, this way we ended up saving the extra 4.5 hrs drive to Halong from Hanoi which we would have to do otherwise. This drive through the province of Lang Son was beautiful, the most scenic we had during our Vietnam trip. The second day we went to the falls early at 7 am, spent about 3 hrs here and then another hour and a half at Nguom Ngao Cave before leaving for Halong Bay, where we arrived at about 10 pm. We reached late at night as we had stooped over at the Museum of the Cultures of Vietnam’s Ethnic Groups in Thai Nguyen City (well made, good collection, the Museum is opened on Tuesday to Sunday from 8 to 11a.m and 2 to 4:30 p.m.) and had our dinner at Pedro’s Pizza at Cao Bang (among the best pizzas I have ever had). The first day we went from Hanoi all the way to the falls for a night stay right next to the falls at the Resort Saigon BanGioc (its entry is opposite the falls entry, we could hear the roar of falls clearly although didn’t venture out as it was close to 10 pm). We did the trip in 2 days instead of the planned 3 days. ![]() We had spent about 3 hrs here and wanted to spend more time but in wanting to save a day decided to take off. Our boat operator took us all the way to the edge of the falls, it was amazing. We walked around both the big and small falls and even took the boat. The waterfalls are stunning, totally worth the efforts and time getting here.
